With a discreet design and high-quality sound, AudioStream Adapter is easy to use! This adapter is an essential accessory for your RONDO 3. Wirelessly stream music and speech from Apple iOS and Android smartphones directly to your cochlear implant.

Bimodal Streaming

Do you wear RONDO 3 on one side and a hearing aid on the other? If your hearing aid supports audio streaming (i.e., ASHA technology), then you can stream sound to both your ears in stereo.

Configuration with AudioKey 2 App

Setting up AudioStream Adapter for first use is fast and simple. With the AudioKey 2 app for Android or iOS, AudioStream Adapter can be configured and updated with just a few clicks. Once set up, you don’t even need to use AudioKey 2 app for everyday streaming.

Compatibility

AudioStream Adapter

AudioStream Adapter for direct streaming with the RONDO 3 audio processor can be connected with all external devices that support Made for iPhone (MFi) and Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) technology. MED-EL recommends keeping your device(s) updated with the latest version of the iOS or Android operating system. AudioStream Adapter is compatible with iOS version 11 or later and Android version 10 or later.

The Android devices stated in the following list include devices specifically tested and confirmed by MED-EL to be compatible with AudioStream Adapter. In addition, other Android devices with Android 10 or later and both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) technology enabled by the phone manufacturer and service carrier may also be compatible with AudioStream Adapter.

Bimodal streaming is possible with Android 12 or later and hearing aids compatible with Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) technology.

Certain third-party applications (for example, the Roku App for Roku and Roku TV) can be used with compatible devices to stream audio directly to AudioStream Adapter.

Devices Suitable for Bimodal Streaming (CI + Hearing Aid)

For bimodal streaming, you simply need an Android smartphone with the Android 12 operating system or later, a hearing aid compatible with Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) technology, and AudioStream Adapter. The below lists include devices specifically tested and confirmed by MED-EL to be suitable for bimodal streaming. Other Android devices and hearing aids with the necessary technologies may also be suitable for bimodal streaming when using AudioStream Adapter.
