MED-EL launches two new innovative products: the SONNET 2 & MAESTRO 8
July 04, 2019 – (Innsbruck, Austria) – Global innovation leader in hearing loss solutions, MED-EL has today unveiled the new SONNET 2 audio processor and MAESTRO 8 fitting software. The SONNET 2 has been developed using the benefit of professional and user feedback to create MED-EL’s best cochlear implant audio processor yet. Its cutting-edge technology, advanced hearing performance and stylish look is destined to be a success with both professionals and users alike. It is an impressive progression from MED-EL’s SONNET audio processor that has transformed user’s lives since launching in 2014.
Made For You
SONNET 2’s design embodies its slogan: “Made For You”. The audio processor is created with the user in mind, ensuring the best hearing quality possible. The new SONNET 2 boasts the most advanced ASM 3.0 technology that adapts to whichever sound-environment the user is in, is very simple to use and will easily fit into a person’s lifestyle.
Mr. David Rätz, Director of Product Management at MED-EL says: "The SONNET 2 comes with a brand-new and extremely powerful chipset. This all new electronic platform allows an unprecedented intelligent way of audio processing and thus individually optimized hearing, even for the most challenging environments. This means for the user that he or she doesn’t need to worry anymore about having to change settings: The embedded Adaptive Intelligence is detecting changes in the listening environment automatically and SONNET 2 applies the optimal front-end processing, including wind noise reduction and removal of constant or sudden annoying background noises."
And it’s stylish too - with over 191,000 color combinations to choose from, users can customize their implant to match their own individual look and outfit.
Connectivity
The SONNET 2 connects to smart phones and tablets using Bluetooth and the brand new AudioLink device, so that users can stream phone calls and music directly to their ears. Users can also choose how they would like to change settings – either from their phone or with the AudioKey app (available for both iPhones and Android devices) or the FineTuner Echo remote control.

About MED-EL
MED-EL Medical Electronics, a leader in implantable and non-implantable hearing solutions, is driven by a mission to overcome hearing loss as a barrier to communication. The Austrian-based, privately owned business was co-founded by industry pioneers Ingeborg and Erwin Hochmair, whose ground-breaking research led to the development of the world’s first micro-electronic multi-channel cochlear implant (CI), which was successfully implanted in 1977 and was the basis for what is known as the modern CI today. This laid the foundation for the successful growth of the company in 1990, when they hired their first employees. To date, MED-EL has grown to more than 2,000 employees and 33 subsidiaries worldwide.
